    Obama, Endorsements, and Elections

    http://dracil.wordpress.com/2008/05/14/obama-endorsements-an...

People like to point and say, oh look, Clinton gets all those working-class white voters that Obama has no chance of getting. That’s only when comparing Clinton vs. Obama. The problem is, when compared to McCain, she actually doesn’t fare that much better. Among these voters, McCain beats Obama 46%-39%. And McCain beats Hillary 48%-41%. So basically, Clinton’s demographics may really be McCain’s demographics, which would already be factored into the general Obama or Clinton vs. McCain polls that are conducted regularly. The Edwards endorsement tonight may also swing the numbers for this demographic a little towards Obama as well. Obama also received the NARAL endorsement earlier today which will help him with Democrats but hurt him with Republicans and conservatives (who’re less likely to vote for him anyway). Also, LOL at EMILY’s List whining about it. If you truly think the equally pro-choice Obama isn’t pro-choice enough, then grow a pair and take your sexist all-women list and go vote for the anti-abortion McCain instead. Otherwise, shut up and keep your misandry to yourself. Anyway, this year also isn’t like the others. Specifically, the increased Black, Youth, and Latino turnout (also check out the Q&A on it) will probably have a pretty big impact on the elections. Republicans can’t even win in Republican strongholds anymore. Part of the reason McCain is even doing so well is that Clinton/Obama supporters basically hate each other right now. Once Clinton’s eliminated, there’ll be five or six months for them to remember what exactly McCain represents and realize that no matter how much they hate the rival Democratic candidate, McCain is even worse (heck, all I needed to do was go in the Politics forum of a major Christian forum to realize that) And just to lighten things up, the current candidates as board gamers.

    John Edwards for Barack Obama!

    http://www.theunapologeticmexican.org/elgrito/2008/05/john_e...

NOW we can say it for sure. So, as suspected, it wasn't a slip the other day when, as reported in the Ticket, [also snatched up by the mighty ears of UMX!] former Sen. John Edwards said he was going to endorse the Democratic presidential candidate he had just voted for in the North Carolina primary and then referred to that person as "him." Tonight, according to sources in the Obama campaign, Edwards will endorse Sen. Barack Obama at a rally in Michigan, a crucial state for Democratic plans to recapture the White House Nov. 4. —Confirmed: John Edwards to endorse Barack Obama tonight Can I get a booyah up in here?

    Confirmed: Who Cares?

    http://blog.thathero.com/2008/05/14/confirmed-who-cares/

One of the losingest losers in the recent history of national Democratic politics will be endorsing Barack Obama, according to the Los Angeles Times and CNN. From LA Times blog entry “Confirmed: John Edwards to endorse Barack Obama tonight“: It’s perfect, and not accidental timing, for the freshman senator as it will shift the political conversation away from Sen. Hillary Clinton’s lopsided victory in West Virginia Tuesday. It’s also perfect timing for the LA Times, CNN, et al, who might otherwise be struggling to downplay the fact that Hillary smoked Obama in West Virginia in almost every demographic category. Ah, who am I kidding, they’ve got their Commentary writers to take care of that: Over the decades, black Americans have had plenty of opportunities to vote for white people for president. And they have done so. But this is the first time that white Americans have a chance to vote for an African-American with a shot at the presidency. And what are they doing? Many are responding quite well. Obama won the votes of many, to borrow a phrase, “hardworking white Americans,” in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska and Wyoming. But, elsewhere, as Obama said in a recent interview, people may need to get their head around the concept of an African-American even seeking the presidency, let alone winning it. If you didn’t know that anyone who’s not voting for Barack Obama is not “responding quite well,” consider yourself informed… and a racist. Also keep in mind that it’s never too late to jump on the winning bandwagon - take it from George McGovern.

Edwards' adn Three Former SEC Chairs Endorse Obama

    http://blackpoliticalanalysis.blogspot.com/2008/05/edwards-e...

Barack Obama received the most coveted endorsement of all and here from former presidential candidate John Edwards. Edwards has broad appeal with working-class white Americans and Obama hopes Edwards' following will help him with this core voting demographic. Speaking of endorsements, three former SEC chairman, two appointed by Republican presidents and one appointed by Bill Clinton, agreed that Barack Obama's "reasoned approach," was appropriate for the times.
