Celebrating Karl Abarth’s centenary, Abarth has released a limited edition version of the new Abarth 500 which it’s calling the ‘DA 0 A 100.’ Only 101 units of the car will be made which pay tribute to the founder’s passion.

She’s small but with some serious grit, as you can see in these spy shots of the Fiat 500 Abarth SS, which can be recognised by the twin exhuasts. If the 135hp from the “normal” version don’t satisfy, the SS kit will update the car with an extra 25 hp and 50Nm more of torque.

Fiat is set to debut the high performance version of its fashionable 500 — possibly in October at the Paris Motor Show — and spy shots have revealed that development is well underway. If fans of the retro-mobile were let down by the Abarth model’s relatively puny 133-horsepower and sub-eight-second run to 60, the SS model will improve those numbers considerably.
