Climate change imperils July Fourth (again)

http://gristmill.grist.org/ story/ 2008/ 7/ 3/ 1260/ 55936

    http://www.treehugger.com/ files/ 2008/ 07/ toyako-g8-summit.php

With the official G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit finally getting under way here in Japan next week, the question on everybody's lips is, "will the G8 see a formal commitment to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions cuts?" We go on the hunt to see what the latest news and views are from around the world....

If a viable technology were developed to pull CO2 directly from that atmosphere, that too would be helpful. Ron Oxburgh.

CONCLUSIONS. The original premise for this long series of posts was this. If the Kyoto Protocol is only in place to preserve the environment for future generations, then, surely, that can only be a good thing.

    Garnaut on tour

    http://larvatusprodeo.net/ 2008/ 07/ 05/ garnaut-on-tour/

Ross Garnaut will be speaking in mainland capital cities next week about the Garnaut Report. Sydney and Perth are already booked out, but if you’re in Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide you can still register. Adelaide’s Tuesday, Melbourne is Wednesday and Brisbane’s Friday. I’ve booked myself a spot for the Brisbane gig.

Why should Canberra be the only city to find out stuff? Professor Ross Garnaut will be at the Perth Town Hall on Monday, the Adelaide Town Hall on Tuesday, and so on.. all next week. But two of the cities, perhaps more by now, are already booked out: If you would like to go, and are able to, book
