Or at least that’s what Reuters is reporting. It seems that the Finnish giant will collaborate with NTT DoCoMo, Japan’s largest mobile carrier.

According to Agence France Presse, DoCoMo disclosed that as they and KTF are allied with Google they will be considering a commercial mobile device together.

Then, later in the day, in a statement issued by Korea’s KTF, it was made clear that the two wireless carriers actually weren’t working with each other at all, especially not on an open-source smartphone of some sort.

NTT DoCoMo Developing Android-Based Phone

A spokesperson for NTT DoCoMo confirmed the rumors yesterday and analysts predict the phone could help the carrier compete with its smaller rival Softbank which has been increasing customers rapidly since their iPhone launch in July.
