It took an absurdly long time to make release, but at long last Wipeout HD has launched for download on the PS3 PlayStation Network and boy was it ever worth the wait! At $20 Wipeout HD has the price of a budget racer, but the quality and value it has to offer is easily equivalent to that of a full-priced Blu-ray production.

Absolutely marked as a rumour just now, but we’ve heard this morning on the sneaky old grapevine that a few of the guys at Sony Cambridge are working on new tracks for WipEout HD, presumably as downloadable content.  Nothing concrete, but interesting news nonetheless.

Review: Wipeout HD   I have not once had a bad experience with the Wipeout series.  The games have always had a certain aesthetic to them that seems to pop.  The futuristic racing series has a certain look, sound and feel that has always popped whenever you play them.

It only took a couple weeks after release, but I’m now finally able to play wipEout HD on my PS3. The bug that caused the game to lock up should you have more than 50 friends has been fixed. Now that I’ve had time to spend with the game, I have to say I’m pretty impressed.

It’s about time. Almost 3 weeks after the game was released, Sony released a patch to allow the game to actually load for people with more than 50 friends on their PSN account. The v1.10 patch will be downloaded when you fire up the game on your PS3. It’s a quick download, so you won’t have to wait a ton of time.

It’s Monday, which means that it’s time for another edition of the Perspective. It looks like many of you caught a glimpse of my pilot column last week, and I truly appreciate the comments that I’ve received both online and offline. Thankfully, the markets have stabilized a bit from last week’s depths.

Health regulations held it back, but in the end nothing could stifle the return of WipEout; the futuristic racer accentuated by unnecessary punctuation. Gorgeous Britishness and stunning presentation underscore the virtues of this high definition remake.
